Dear friends
Co van Ekeren, well-known builder of stereo camera's, has collapsed at home last
Friday March 2nd and been taken to hospital. He is on oxygen right now and very
tired I've been told by his sister-in-law yesterday afternoon. It seems the
doctors have found a pancreatic tumor on photographs made in the hospital.
Yesterday evening I received the horrible news that the doctors have said that
Co probably only has two more weeks to live. He turned 65 in February looking
forward to his "retirement"! Not really of course, his creative mind had just
finished a new promising camera project. And now it seems this will be his last.
The board and membership of the Dutch stero club are shocked! Co has been a huge
support to our club in the past years and also provided us with his technical
advises in the running up to the succesful 2011 ISU congress in Egmond.
I guess this sad news will spread soon. In case somebody (of your membership)
wants to send a post card (his email will not be answered anymore I fear) here
is his address:

Die Bearbeitung von Videos sollte damit flott von der Hand gehen.
Gleichzeitig habe ich die Entwicklung der 0.9h4 begonnen.

Side-By-Side-Bild mit einem horizontal gespiegelten rechten Bild?
Meine Co-Box langweilt sich immer so während der Cosima-Läufe ;-)
Das wäre für mich und die vielen Spiegelmonitor-Besitzer ein echter Gewinn.

Hallo Peter, gleich nach dem Download kommt die Meldung, dass Norton eine Bedrohung erkannt hat und der Download wird gleich gelöscht (!), selbst das Deaktivieren aller Funktionen unter Norton360 - Einstellungen läßt das Programm immer wieder verschwinden. Was ist zu tun?

jeder Hersteller von Virenscannern bietet online die Meldung von
sog. Hoaxes an,
das sind Virenwarnungen bei harmlosen Dateien. Du mußt nur für Dein
Programm
suchen, wo Du die zu testende Datei hinschickst, in dem Fall also
setup_cosima_gui_09h3.exe.
In der Regel reagieren die Hersteller schnell und beim nächsten
Update Deines
Virenscanners ist dann der Fehler meist schon behoben.
das ist der Onlinetest von 18 Virenscannern, Norton ist allerdings
nicht dabei.

PS: Es würde Dir auch nichts nützen, wenn ich Dir das Programm
schicke, Dein Scanner
würde es sofort wieder schlucken. Du kommst an einer Hoax-Meldung
nicht vorbei
(oder wartest eventuell, bis das jemand anders für Dich erledigt,
das kann u.U. aber länger dauern)

I have just installed the new version of COSIMA and I am trying out a few new
options.
I have a mainfolder (including 2 subfolders L and R) for my images.
Using the settings:
Tab: General
HtmlImages: 3 (uses anaglyph output images)
Tab: Input1
InputMode: 9 (All images in PathofImages\l\and-\r or\s\subdir)
IncludeSubdirs: 2 (With all subdirectories)
COSIMA will create anaglyph previews inside the html file. Fine!
If I use e.g subdir 1 and subdir 2 (including my L and R subfolders), COSIMA
will not create any anaglyph previews inside the html file.
Is this be default? If not, can anyone be so kind and tell me the right
settings? Thanks!

it took some time (I'm very busy at the moment), but
I have updated Cosima and support now also subdirectories,
when creating the html-report.

...immerhin, ein erster Versuch! Wenn man jedoch 99 € für eine
Lizenz hätte, die Basis etwas größer machen würde und die
Spiegelungen an der Glasscheibe durch schwarze Abdeckung zwischen
Objektiv und Kamera vermeiden würde, wäre es noch schöner ;-)

I have never worked with Cosima and videos. I started today and run into some
issues.
My equipment:
I am using two Canon IXUS 100 IS, a Z-bar, SDM (stereo data maker) and a synch
cable for the two cams.
The camera produces .mov video files. 1280x720 pixel.
I have installed avisynth vers 2.5.8
Using the AviSynth-Scriptgenerator - choosing my camera is not possible, since
it is not listed.
Can anyone point me (in simple words) to the right direction, on how to create a
test - 3d video with Cosima, please? I would like to get more into 3d video with
Cosima! I have no background knowledge about codecs or video at all!

The AviSynth plugins are just copied, therefore it is necessary to
have AviSynth in the default directory.
Then you have all, what you need for video.
Start the Cosima Gui, the AviSynth Script Generator, choose your
video,
try "TZ_10 (mov)" create a script and then start the Cosima
Previewer.
Do you see your video? Then it is good, type "H" and read further.
If not, please report, what happened.

I also tried 3 times the way you explained it in your last message.
Result: same error message
Could it be, that I have to set up something special for videos inside the
parameter ini/ GUI? The left video is upsidedown!
If you can provide me with two small videos (.mov, left-right), I could try my
setup with your videos. Maybe that´s the fastest way to find out, if I am doing
something wrong here.

previewer itself is faulty.
So please try the following:
1) Set OutputHeight = OutputWidth = 0 and try again.
If that doesn't help, please go to the next step:
2) Create please a new short directory, e.g. "d:\videos" or
something else.
3) Make sure, that the names of your videos have no special
characters, no blancs
and only 1 point (".") to separate the name from the ending.
4) Copy your both videos into that directory. The names itself are
now regardless.
If you choose abc_l.mov and abc_r.mov, the file dialog will
automatically recognice
the right one, if you have choosen the left one.
5) Try again and please report your results.
If you have success, please report also you actual settings for
width/height and your namings.

Ok, for Videos please ALWAYS set ForceSize = 1, because
it is absolutely necessary, that every frame has the same amount of
pixels.
(It seems, that I have to manage that internally).
762 is NOT the best choice, because for videos, the most codecs only
work with
sizes, that are dividable by 4.
So you may EITHER set OutputHeight = OutputWidth = 0
(means: output size equal input size)
OR set it to some meaningful values, e.g. OutputHeight = 768,
OutputWidth = 1024
I will test now the other cases and see, what happens (sorry for
your trouble) ...
No coming to the next steps.
What you can do in the "previewer":
1) Set the first and the last frame (With key S for Start and with
key E for End)
2) Make a zooming or panning (Key M for masks and then use the mouse)
3) Do a frame alignment (Key T or Shift-T) - works only, if you have
sound
The small window below the both is NOT the mounted image, but only a
control
for the frame alignment (automatic or not)
Then close the previewer with the ENTER key.
If necessary, set your other parameters,
like the creation of output "images"
leftright/sidebyside/topandbottom/anaglyph etc,
like the creation of output "videos" also
leftright/sidebyside/topandbottom/anaglyph etc
Finally press the yellow Start button.
From the menu "Help - Video Help" you get some hints for the video
workflow.

Es gibt immer wieder Mißverständnisse darüber,
was Anaglyphenkalibrierung tatsächlich bedeutet.
Aus diesem Grund habe ich eine weitere Technische Notiz
verfaßt, welche die (aus meiner Sicht) 10 wichtigsten Fragen
zur Anaglyphentechnik beantworten sollen:

Die Version Cosima 0.9h4 (nach wie vor beta) macht Fortschritte!
Im Moment ist die Bugliste komplett abgearbeitet,
auch für alle bislang neu implementierten Features.
Ich kann die Installation der aktuellen 0.9h4 empfehlen,
die Rate der zurückgewiesenen Bilder konnte gegenüber der Version 0.9h3
nochmals deutlich reduziert werden (Danke Piet):
