die Welthandelsorganisation verhandelt zur Zeit unter dem Titel "GATS"
(General Agreement of Trade of Services) die Privatisierung öffentlicher Dienste
unter Ausschluss der Öffentlichkeit.
Bildung, Gesundheitsvorsorge, Wasser- und Energieversorgung,
Abfallbeseitigung, öffentlicher Transport, wissenschaftliche Forschung und
Postdienst sind
dadurch gefährdet.

Die folgende online-Petition ist ein Auszug des Aufrufs, der an Mitglieder
des europäischen Parlaments (MEPs) und nationaler Parlamente (MPs) gerichtet
wurde, um Transparenz, demokratische Kontrolle und eine Plenarsitzung über die
laufenden GATS-Verhandlungen zwischen dem Europäischen Parlament und der
Europäischen Kommission zu erwirken.
Sie ist dazu gedacht, die Besorgnis der BürgerInnen auszudrücken und den
Aufruf seitens der Bevölkerung zu decken.

Zivilgesellschaft ein, die Besorgnis der BürgerInnen

- an nationale Europa-ParlamentarierInnen
- an die Presse
weiterzuleiten.

Die Unterschriften besorgter BürgerInnen werden zeitgerecht zur
GATS-Pressekonferenz am 11.12.2002 nach Brüssel gesandt.

currently the World Trade Organization is negotiating the liberalisation of
public services under the title GATS (General Agreement of Trade in
Services).
Public services such as education, health care, water and energy supply,
waste treatment, public transport, scientific research and postal services are
under serious threat.

The following online petition is an excerpt of the one attentioned to MEPs
(members of European parliament) and MPs (members of national parliaments)
claiming transparency, democratic control and a plenary debate on the current
GATS negotiations between the European Parliament and the European Commission.
It is supposed to express the concerns of citizens and to backup the
call from the population's end.
